Comparison of Photoshop CS3 and CS4

The brand new Adobe Photoshop CS4 was launched a few months ago. It offers many benefits for the professional designer. All of the graphic designers were happy when the Adobe Photoshop CS4 launched in the first place. They say the digital imaging will be improved when using Photoshop CS4. However, maybe you ask,

“Well, it is only for the professional. Then why do I have to upgrade my old Photoshop CS3 to the brand new Photoshop CS4? I still do not get it.”

If you are asking that question, then you should continue to read this article. What is the difference between Adobe Photoshop CS3 and Adobe Photoshop CS4? That question has already been asked by thousands of users who are confused as to whether they should stay with their Adobe Photoshop CS3 or buy the brand new Adobe Photoshop CS4. Well, it is not easy to answer that question. However, there are some things you need to consider such as whether you need to change your digital imaging editor or not.

First of all, the bridge in the brand new Adobe Photoshop CS4 is much more powerful than the bridge in the old Adobe Photoshop CS3. The bridge is much faster to open and it processes thumbnails far quicker. It is also able to show 1:1 previews. Also do not forget with its superior loupe work that it is much better and also much more responsive than before. In short, the bridge in the Photoshop CS4 offers great improvement. The bridge in CS4 can now support a work flow as good as Lightroom can.

The other comparison between Adobe Photoshop CS4 and Adobe Photoshop CS3 is its speed. Photoshop CS4 opens twice as fast. There are also so many plug-ins such as sharpen which usually gives you a process bar in CS3, but now in CS4, it gives you the result without any process bar (this is also dependant on your computer spec). The other improvement is that in Adobe Photoshop CS4, there are many additions and lots of corrections have been made. For example, in the liquefy filter, you will find the maximum brush size now is 1500. Compared to Adobe Photoshop CS3 that is only able to use a brush size of 600, it is a massive improvement.

So what are you waiting for? Buy the brand new Adobe Photoshop CS4 it will give you many benefits. However, if your computer has a low spec, it may be better if you keep your Adobe Photoshop CS3 instead of upgrading to Adobe Photoshop CS4.

That is not satisfying enough for differences. if those are the major ones then spending an extra 200+ dollars is a waste. Waiting a bit longer for things and save money = no brainer

Perhaps for the most of us it might be better to put the upgrade money into the PC and enjoy the benefits all round rather than a single component of a single application. Each to their own I guess.

Compare it to the John Madden/EA Sports Dynasty.

Each year they have to change the game to make it better in order to sell more product and keep its employees working. Sometimes company’s need to just take a year off and have more time to really come up with a new and improved product.

Maybe their next Photoshop product will have an easy export and configuration which combines Dreamweaver and Photoshop and has an end product which is very easy to post to websites.

The ultimate web and photo designer.
