Customize Action to Increase Efficiency

You can customize your own actions for steps that you are love to use.
As a designer and a user of Photoshop CS3, you may have your own style. There will be times that you repeat your favorite steps to create your design’s style. Well, maybe it is tedious and you feel that repeating regular steps is time consuming and not efficient at all. That is why Adobe Photoshop CS3 creates actions and has an actions palette to support your regular action.
Actually, an action is a series of commands that you may apply to an image with only one click from your own mouse. Maybe you think that actions are quite similar to keyboard shortcuts. Keyboard shortcuts can only invoke a command and no more than that. An action can open a command, step through another command, apply changes to an image, and it can save a file in a particular way. Well, imagine the time that will you save if you are using actions. You can customize your own actions for steps that you love to use. All you need to do is simply save the actions and add them to your own actions palette.
At first, you need to record a sequence of steps. Save your own action with your own name in the actions palette. When you want to use your favorite steps to apply to an image, you can simply play the actions and then the Photoshop CS3 will automatically apply the operations that you have already recorded. Doesn’t this sound interesting? Actions are so easy to create and will allow you to work more efficiently and save valuable time. Here is how to create an action.
- Open an image, then, click the actions button to open the action palette
- Click create new action button, the new action dialog box will appear
- Fill them with the name of your action, keyboard shortcut, and colour for the action
- Click record, the record button in the action palette will turn red
- Perform the steps that you want to record as your new action. Just do everything that you usually to do as a repetitive task since the Photoshop will save it and do everything you record when you are using action
- Click the stop recording button when you have finished the repetitive task
- Enjoy your own action and feel the difference. You will work much more efficiently and save time!
