Discover the Full Power of Photoshop with Pen Tablet

You no longer need to scoot the mouse around!

Using a mouse as an input device is common by the Photoshop users. It works well if you want to place insertion points in text as well as dragging a rectangular selection. However, if you are using your mouse for brush tools or selecting specific areas it is just like writing your name with a bar of soap. It is real clunky and not accurate at all. But do not worry about that.

Using a pressure sensitive tablet and pen, in this case, such as the Wacom Intuos will give you a chance to edit images with greater control and more comfort than using an ordinary mouse. Now you can even place your cursor exactly where you want to be with the pen. When you no longer need to push the mouse around, means you will become more productive.

Actually, the main key to using a tablet and pen so that you can feel the full power of Photoshop is to start setting the tablet preferences that you can find in the system preferences as well as the control panel. Here are how to set the pen tablet.

1.      Open the Tablet preferences.

2.      Click and drag the tilt sensitivity slider to the right. Stop if you feel you have already got a greater tilt response.

3.      Drag the tip feel slider for a firmer or softer touch. Do not forget to click details to test your settings.

4.      Click the arrows and select a different keystroke to set the rocker switch.

5.      Drag the tip double clicks distance order if you want to reduce or increase the sensitivity.

6.      Click the eraser tab and drag the eraser feel slider to set the softer or firmer eraser pressure. Do not forget to test your details.

7.      Click the function tool to customize the tablet keys. The express keys preferences will appear.

8.      Click the arrows to change the settings for the tablet keys. Then, click the touch strip tab. The touch strip preferences will appear.

If you finish setting the pen tablet, you will be even more productive with Adobe Photoshop CS3.
