Sketch Effect

We meet again in this new Photoshop tutorial.

Making a sketch is not a simple task for everybody. Only those who are gifted with talent can make a good sketch. However, with this Photoshop CS3 tutorial, you will be shown how Adobe Photoshop CS3 is able to turn a photo into a good sketched look. The image will appear to have used soft pencils, paintbrush, or charcoal and leaving the edges as well as brush marks visible.

You can simply use any Photoshop’s brushes and modify them to continue sketching the photo. Try to play with the number and opacity of the brush strokes. You can play with the style of the strokes by simply altering the attributes of the eraser from the brushes palette. Here is the complete Photoshop CS3 tutorial to give a sketched look to your photo.

1.    Open the photo that you want to sketch.

2.    Click create a new layer button. Find it in the layers palette.

3.    Click edit – fill. After that, the fill dialog will appear. In the content part, pick white. Click OK. After that, the white layer will cover the photo.

4.    Click opacity in the layers palette to activate the slider. Drag it to the left until you see the image underneath enough.

5.    Click eraser tool. Use the brush with a rough-looking edge.

6.    Click and drag the master slider to make the brush size larger.

7.    Click and drag across the image and do not forget to use several broad strokes.

8.    Change the master diameter slider to a smaller size. Then, add more brush strokes to your photo.

9.    Change the opacity in the layer palette to 100%. Now you can continue to strokes until you feel that the photo looks sketched-in enough.

That’s all. It is really easy. As long as you follow this Photoshop CS3 tutorial correctly, giving a sketched look in your photo is easy.
