As designer, you can use the gradient tool in so many ways..

Using gradient tools to blend multiple colours as one so that you can fill a specific area in an image is quite common for Photoshop CS3 users. Well, as designer, you can use the gradient tool in so many ways. You can fill backgrounds with a gradient, fill text with gradations of colour, or combine it with the layers and masks. Usually, gradient is used when making composite images.
In the Photoshop CS3, you will find the default gradient colour and the other gradient sets. All of them are listed in the drop down menu which you can find in the options bar. Creating your own gradient by sampling colours from areas in your image or choosing different colours in the same time can be done with Adobe Photoshop CS3.
You can choose a style for your customized gradient. You can choose linear, angled, radial, diamond, or reflected. You can also design a blend with multiple colours or add intermediate colours and even design gradients that fade from colour to transparent. Start an existing gradient and then modify the colours, the colours stops, and many more in the dialog box. Here are how to make a special gradient.

1. Click the gradient tool. Click a gradient type in the options bar
2. Click in the inside of the gradient thumbnail in the options bar. After that, the gradient editor box will appear
3. Click the left colour stop. You will find it under the gradient bar to select it
4. Click the colour thumbnail if you want to choose a new colour for your design. After that, the colour picker dialog box will appear
5. Select a colour from the dialog box and click OK
6. Click the right colour stop which you can find under the gradient bar to select it. Then, you can repeat steps 5 to 7 to select the colours that you wish for the right colour stop
7. Type a name for your new gradient in the name field. Click new and then the custom gradient will appear in the presets. Click OK
