The Basics of Adobe Photoshop

Adobe Photoshop was created by Adobe Systems Inc. It is a graphic designing, editing and retouching program. The latest version you will find on Adobe Photoshop is CS5 Extended. For anyone interested in mastering the art of Photoshop, you must get a hang of the basics. Tools is which appears on the left side bar is the basic tool in Photoshop. Each function that you need to perform can be found on the Tools bar. For instance, there are blending options that can be adjusted, applied, filtered or masked. The next function on the list is the filters menu. The filter provides your image with extraordinary effects. Each filter comes with many sub effects and each of these can be applied to the image you are photo shopping. It may take a while to master these tools, but they are a very effective part of learning the ropes of Adobe Photoshop.

The CS5 Extended version of Adobe Photoshop has 3D functions which can be used to create 3D effects of the image. Photoshop can be extended in its functionality by having add-on programs like plug-ins, which can be used to modify an image. Adobe creates some of their own plug-ins, while a third party creates the rest of the plug-ins. Some of these popular plug-ins are Strata, Andromeda, Alien Skin and Adobe Camera Raw. Photoshop can also be used for GIF animations. Also important in Photoshop is the History feature which keeps track of various functions, which means you can create stunning effects and have them repeated over and over again.

Adobe Photoshop Elements is software which is used to import images. This software will check the Hard Drive for indexes and images, which makes browsing files easier. Another feature in Photoshop is Adobe Bridge, similar in its characteristics to Elements and performing similar functions.
